LT Finds 2 Students With Drugs, Paraphernalia

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange police blotter.

LT Officials Hold 2 on Drug-Related Charges

La Grange police were called twice on the morning May 8 to Lyons Township High School North Campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., on drug-related incidents involving students.

In the first incident, at about 7:59 a.m., an 18-year-old La Grange boy found with marijuana was charged with possession of cannabis, less than 30 grams, and faces a June 25 court date.

Thirty minutes later, school officials had in custody a student for possession of drug paraphernalia—foil with a marijuana residue. The 17-year-old boy was not charged, La Grange police said.

Tools Taken

Officials from a La Grange business reported May 8 that a former employee took tools worth more than $500.

Identity Theft Tried

A La Grange man told police May 8 that someone requested a copy of his credit report and he wanted to let police know.

A La Grange woman reported May 7 that she was contacted by Walmart to confirm a $200 gift card order. She responded that she did not place the order and cancelled it. No loss was reported.

Bike Stolen

A blue Myatia bicycle was stolen between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. May 8 at the La Grange Road train station, 25 W. Burlington Ave., where it had been locked up. 

Bicycle Found

A custodian at Seventh Avenue School, 701 S. Seventh Ave., found a red and silver men’s, 21-spped bicycle at about 8:08 a.m. May 7.

Pets Found

A white cat with a purple collar found on May 8 on the 100 block of east Cossitt Avenue was returned to its owner.

A yellow Labrador retriever found May 9 at Bell and Waiola avenues was returned that day to “Scout’s” owner.

A resident of the 100 block of north Stone Avenue who found a Boston terrier May 7 will hold onto the dog until the owner is found. The dog did not have an implanted microchip for identification.

Car Mirror Damaged

The passenger side mirror of a car parked in a village lot at Ogden and Tilden avenues was knocked off, the vehicle owner told La Grange police May 9. Police said there was no signs of an accident and the mirror may have been hit by someone walking past.

Resident Suspicious of 2

A resident of the 200 block of north Catherine Avenue reported May 9 that a man was sitting in his gold car parked outside her home and eating . She later saw a silver Dodge drive slowly by her home and told police she was suspicious of both vehicles.

Group Fighting

A group of people reported fighting on the 400 block of south Stone Avenue at about 11:18 p.m. May 8 were gone when police arrived.  

Hubcaps Stolen

A resident of the 1000 block of Seventh Avenue reported May 7 that all four hubcaps on their vehicle had been stolen between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Crossing Gates Damaged

La Grange police investigating a school bus stopped on eastbound 47th Street at the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad tracks at about 3:23 p.m. May 8 found the crossing gates partially down and damaged. The railroad was called to repair the gates.
