Monday, June 10

Missing Firewood

Three storage bins worth of firewood were taken from a yard in the 1400 block of West Cossitt Avenue, police said. The woman didn’t know when it happened.

Lawnmower Hit and Run

A car parked in Village Lot 12, 536 East Avenue, had damage consistent with being hit by a large lawnmower around 7:40 p.m., police said. The car was parked next to the grass in the southwest side of the lot.

Graffiti on Sign

Graffiti was found on a sign near the intersection of Madison and Brewster around 9:33 p.m., police said.

Recycling Bin Scavengers

A couple was seen taking items from recycling bins around 7:12 a.m. in the 400 block of South Ashland, police said. The couple was warned and sent on their way.

Homeless People Sleep in Police Bathroom

Two homeless people were sleeping in the police station bathroom, 304 W. Burlington Ave., around 1 a.m., police said. They went to the train station to stay out of the rain but were told to leave by 5:30 a.m.

Sunday, June 9

Luggage, Fishing Equipment Stolen

Luggage and fishing equipment worth more than $500 were taken from the front porch of a home in the 300 block of South 7th Avenue around 8:53 a.m., police said.

Dogs Disturb the Peace

Four dogs were barking loudly after being left inside a minivan parked on the first floor of the parking garage around 11:06 a.m., police said. The owner was ticketed for dogs disturbing the peace.

Repeated Vandalism

A house was egged overnight in the 300 block of South Ashland, police said. Garbage was dumped on the same home’s lawn about three weeks ago. Someone threw five to six beer bottles at decorations in front of the home around Christmas time.

Saturday, June 8

BB Holes in Window

A resident in the 100 block of Bassford found BB holes in a window of her house around 4:59 p.m., police said.

Baseballs Hit at Homes

Kids were reportedly hitting baseballs at a home in the 600 block of South 9th Avenue around 8:39 p.m., police said. Officers were unable to locate them.

Friday, June 7

Stolen Bike

An orange men’s 26-inch Trek bike was stolen during the day from the train depot, 25 W. Burlington, police said. It was locked at the time of the theft.

Old License Plate Leads to New Red-Light Tickets

A woman in the 200 block of Columbine threw out an old license plate, but someone else appears to be using it, she said. She has received a red-light ticket in the mail from the city of Chicago, she said. Police told her to dispute the ticket since the old plate is no longer valid.
