Large Turtle in Middle of Road Disrupts Traffic

Or was it just a stalled Smart Car?

On July 27 at 9:38 a.m., a woman called La Grange police to report a very large turtle in the middle of the street near Blueberry Hill Breakfast Cafe and Pancake House, 49 S.  La Grange Road, causing vehicles to weave around it. The report did not say whether the turtle was on La Grange Road or Harris Avenue. The turtle was described as being as large as a dinner plate with 13 yellow circles on its shell. A La Grange woman in the area told police the turtle was not hers, but she would care for it since she already has turtles.

Editor's note: The first version of this item from the La Grange police blotter stated that the woman referred to in the last sentence was a 17-year-old girl. The original police report stated this to be true, but the woman has since been identified and the age is inaccurate.
