La Grange Woman Reports Attempted Identity Theft, Stray Dog Bites Officer

Identity theft
A La Grange woman told police March 28 that someone tried to change her home address for her Visa credit card in attempted identity theft. When she went online to check her account, she could not access it. Someone had tried to change her address to a non-existent address in Chicago, according to police. She closed the account and there was no loss.
Dog bites officer

A La Grange police officer was bit by a stray Weimaraner dog he was trying to hold onto when it was loose in the playground at Gilbert Park, 41st Street and Gilbert Avenue, at about 11:56 a.m. March 28. The officer refused medical attention. The gray dog's owner, a La Grange woman, was to pick up the pet at the police station.
Boys on a roof

A resident of the 800 block of south Spring Avenue reported at about 7:16 p.m. March 28 that a boy was on the roof of a neighboring house throwing down hoops to his brother, and their parents appeared not to be home. Police could not locate the youths.
Kids breaking the rules
Kids who were playing ball in a courtyard in the 300 block of Bluff Avenue at about 5:41 p.m. March 28 where “No ball playing" signs are posted, were sent on their way by La Grange police.
Woman hospitalized after fall
An 81-year-old woman who fell and hit her head on the wall at West Suburban Senior Services, 712 E. Elm Ave., at about 11:47 a.m. March 28, was taken to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital by fire department ambulance.
Response to fire calls
The La Grange Fire Department provided mutual aid for a grease fire in the 6200 block of Rogers Lane in Hodgkins at about 5:44 p.m. March 28 for the Pleasantview Fire Protection District, and a fire call in the 9500 block of Southview in Brookfield at about 8:16 a.m. March 28.
