La Grange Police Warn Business Owners of Scam

La Grange police say a man requesting to be reimbursed for dry cleaning services may be scamming local businesses.

The is warning area businesses of a possible scam being attempted in La Grange.

Police released an email alert at about 5 p.m. on June 10 letting residents know that recently a man has entered several businesses and claimed an employee spilled or otherwise soiled his clothing, which would need professional dry cleaning services. The man then indicated to the businesses that he was planning on hosting a party at their location in the future and then presented them with a dry cleaning bill.

The man is described as white, between 28 and 35 years old with short, dark hair. He stands about 6 feet tall and is of slim build, police said in the alert, and is very persuasive in his speech and manners.

Police are asking business owners and managers to contact police if the man comes into their business immediately by calling 9-1-1.

Police are requesting that anyone with additional information call to talk with an investigator at the police department by calling the non-emergency number at (708) 579-2333.
