La Grange Police Get Variety of Unusual Reports

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange police blotter.

A La Grange woman told police Aug. 15 that her 6-year-old son was playing with her grandfather’s handcuffs when he locked them on his wrist and they do not have a key. Police were able to free the boy’s hands.

A woman living on the 0-100 block of Drexel Avenue told police Aug. 14 that she found a bag of marijuana on her front lawn.  Police said the bag contained tobacco from a cigar and disposed of it.

A woman watching her daughter’s house on south Stone Avenue while she is away reported Aug. 13 that someone left a store-bought chicken on her front doorstep.

A resident who recently moved into a home on Drexel reported an apparent break-in Aug. 14 with pry marks on the door and debris on the ground. Her son confirmed the makings are old.

A man was reported pleasuring himself in a black sport-utility vehicle parked on the 0-100 block of LaGrange Road at about 1:22 p.m. Aug. 13. La Grange police said the vehicle was empty when they arrived. They watched the vehicle for a while but said they were unable to find the man.

A group of kids was reported going out into traffic at LaGrange Road and Hillgrove Avenue at about 5:42 p.m. Aug. 12 with a couple of them mooning passers-by.

Six kids were reported throwing water balloons at cars passing by Leitch and Maple avenues at about1:08 p.m. Aug. 12. Police talked to a babysitter in a nearby house who said kids were playing in the back yard and a balloon went into the street by accident.

Syringes used to inject insulin were found in the street across from the La Grange Post Office, 121 W. Hillgrove Ave., at about 12:40 p.m.  Aug. 12, according to police.

A resident of the 500 block of Sunset reported a man wearing a baseball cap rang her doorbell at about 8:34 p.m. Aug. 15. She did not open the door.

A resident of the 0-100 block of Dover Avenue came into the La Grange police station at about 3:10 p.m. Aug. 15 to report an 8-year-old boy was throwing rocks at her. Police could not find the boy and advised she call from her home next time, instead of coming in to the police station, which delayed a response. She called at 3:43 p.m. to say the kids again was throwing  rocks. They found him and advised the boy and his parents about doing this again.

A resident of the 900 block of south Seventh Avenues told police Aug. 12 that a neighbor kept coming to the door to yell at him about his dogs, although he does not know why. An officer said the neighbor was uncooperative and would not listen to him. The officer advised the neighbor to call police if he has a problem, but the man told another department member that he refused to call police and would, “take the law into his own hands.”
