La Grange Police Issue Warning About 'White Van' Incidents

Area police departments are on alert and La Grange police are asking parents to talk to their children about dealing with strangers and to report incidents quickly.

Several incidents involving a white van in the western suburbs have and the Cook County Sheriff's Office issuing warnings for parents to be on alert for incidents involving a white van. They are also urging parents to talk to their children about interacting with strangers.

The on Sept. 11 when two women, described as white and in a white, windowless van, tried to lure a four-year-old boy into their vehicle with gummy bears near 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue.

A second incident occurred in Indian Head Park. A 14-year-old told police on Sept. 17th that a white male, who was bald and tall, approached him in a white "construction-style" van. The teen told police a similar incident had occurred a month earlier. The teen told police the man had asked him about friends of his, and knew their specific names.

The on Sept. 20 around 1 p.m. Police responded after a lunch attendent told them she had seen a suspicious white van parked by a playfield at recess time. When she approached the van, it drove away, and she was not able to give a description of the driver.

After this latest incident, La Grange police are asking for residents to report incidents quickly, as it took 90 minutes for the latest report to be called in, according to the La Grange police incident report.
