THURSDAY, AUG. 2

Conflicted Report of Man Stealing Money

A woman called police at about 8:53 p.m. to report that a man in a hat and red shirt had stolen $120 from her at the intersection of Cossitt and Tilden avenues and took off running toward the tracks. She gave police the name of the man she believed robbed her and told police that she owed him money.

Police believed the woman may have been intoxicated at the time of the report. She changed the location of the robbery several times and added that she owned the money for drugs. The amount of money stolen was also changed several times from $120 to $160 and then $180.

Man Caught Stealing Bike

Police received several calls on the 400 block of East Avenue at about 7:52 p.m. about a man caught stealing a bike. One caller told police that he caught someone trying to steal his bike and was holding him for police. No other information was available.

No Argument, Just Animated

Police were called to the village parking garage, located at 6th and Harris avenues, for an argument between two individuals on the 3rd floor of the lot at about 11:57 p.m. The caller told police that one man appeared to be upset and was swinging his arms around. Police spoke with both individuals who said there was no argument; they are just animated talkers.

FRIDAY, AUG. 3

Hubcaps Stolen Overnight

A caller told police at about 5:38 p.m. that two hubcaps were stolen off her car while it was parked on 6th Avenue behind the village parking garage.

SATURDAY, AUG. 4

Windows Smashed

A resident of the 900 block of Eighth Avenue told police at about 4:30 a.m. that while leaving for work he noticed several vehicles with their back windows smashed. Police also received a similar call on the 800 block of Seventh Avenue that windows at the La Grange Bible Church were smashed on the north side and east side of the building around 4:43 a.m.

Police were called to assist the Western Springs Police Department after a window was smashed with a bat on the 4000 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:17 a.m.

No further information was available from police regarding whether the incidents were connected.

Teen Lighting Paper on Fire in Downtown La Grange

Police received a report at about 7:59 p.m. that a male teenager was lighting pieces of paper on fire in front of a business on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road. No one was there when police arrived.

SUNDAY, AUG. 5

Bike Stolen From Open Garage

A resident told police at about 6:58 p.m. that her bike was stolen from an open garage on the 100 block of Catherine Avenue. The resident said the garage was open because the power was out at the time.
