BB Shot Through Window, False Molestation Accusation: La Grange Police Blotter

SUNDAY, SEPT. 30

FTK Eye Care, Maybe?

A caller at 2:23 p.m. reported gang graffiti painted on a building on the 300 block of Burlington Avenue. Police reported that the graffiti was the letters “F,” “T” and “K,” and a pair of eyeglasses, and that it was not gang graffiti.

Domestic Dispute

Officers responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman on the 100 block of Madison Avenue at 1:02 a.m. Police ascertained that the parties, a Darien man and woman, were involved in a verbal domestic dispute and completed domestic violence forms.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 29

Potentially a Drug Deal

A caller reported a possible drug deal occurring at the corner of Sawyer and Calendar at 6:12 p.m. between a man in a red hat, white long-sleeved shirt and black pants, and someone in a blue Volvo. Police had a tentative ID on the man as a known La Grange man, but he was gone when police arrived.

Safe Goes Missing

A business on the 0-100 block of Hillgrove Avenue reported at 3:28 p.m. that a safe filled with “applications and documents” had gone missing. A case file was opened under theft $500 and under.

Backyard Beer Backpack

A resident of the 1-100 block of 6th Avenue called at 9:40 a.m. to report that she had found a black backpack filled with beer in her backyard. She had disposed of the beer; the incident was entered as a matter of record.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 28

Fighting Over a Computer

Police responded to multiple reports of a fight at 11:25 a.m. on the 100 block of Sawyer. Officers tracked down the persons involved and verified that they had been arguing about “money over a computer.” No complaints were filed.

Driver Without License

Paul M. Kubina, 44, of 1426 Homestead Rd., La Grange Park, was stopped at the corner of 53rd Avenue and Catherine at 8:08 a.m. and charged with driving without a valid license, police said.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 27

Argument at Gas Station

Police responded to a customer dispute at a gas station on the 9600 block of Ogden Avenue at 6:09 p.m. A customer spilled gas on the concrete and refused to pay for it because, as an officer verified, the pump’s shut-off valve was broken. The station’s owner promised to investigate and offer a refund if appropriate.

BB Shot Through Window

A business on the 500 block of Shawmut reported at 3:45 p.m. that a BB pellet had been fired through its front window. A case file was opened.

Tall Woman Demands Money

A Brookfield resident reported that a woman approached her on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road at 11:13 a.m. and asked for money. The woman was described as 6-foot to 6-foot, 5-inches tall, 30-40 years old, wearing a colorful beaded dress and carrying a Whole Foods bag. The resident refused to give her money and there was no attempt to take the wallet.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

False Molestation Accusation 

Police responded to a dispute in a residential home at 8:12 p.m. where a woman known to have bipolar disorder was accusing her husband of molesting their 5-year-old daughter. The officer spoke to the girl and verified this was untrue. The parents were to stay in separate parts of their house.

Shoplifters Caught on Camera

A business on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road reported at 8:02 p.m. that  a camera recorded two men with a backpack stealing items from the store. Police took a suspect into custody.

No Valid License

Mohammed Saleh, 20, of 21 Spinning Wheel, Hinsdale, was stopped on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road at 6:49 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, police said.

Man Obstructs Warrant Service

Juan C. Cruz Martinez, 34, of 4717 Arbor Dr., Rolling Meadows, was stopped for a traffic violation at the corner of 52nd Avenue and La Grange Road at 4:42 p.m. and arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court, police said. Martinez was also charged with driving with a suspended license, as well as with obstruction after giving a false name to the arresting officer.

Tantrum Thrown in Store

A business on the 0-100 block of North La Grange Road reported at 6:10 a.m. that a homeless man had re-entered the store and, when told he was not welcome, threw a cup, kicked the windows and shouted profanity. The man was described as 40-50 years old with facial hair and wearing a black “TAPOUT” shirt. Police were unable to locate the man. There was no damage in the store.

MONDAY, SEPT. 24

Oh No, My Keys!

A woman called for assistance at 11:34 a.m. after accidentally leaving her house keys atop her car and hearing them fly off the car as she drove across the Ogden Avenue bridge heading east. An officer managed to locate the keys and returned them to the driver.
