La Grange Park Man Charged With Aggravated Domestic Battery

Here is an item taken from the La Grange Park police blotter.

A La Grange Park man was arrested June 26 after a female relative told police he hit her and pointed a gun at her in their home on the 1200 block of Beach Avenue.

Juan Garcia Munoz was charged with aggravated domestic battery and unlawful use of a weapon for not having a valid firearm owner’s identification card for the unloaded Smith & Wesson gun.

La Grange Park received a call at 2:25 p.m. that day from a social worker at Rush Hospital in Chicago who had talked to a woman in the emergency room who is from La Grange Park and had a black left eye, cut lip and numbness in the right arm with possible nerve damage from an argument with the relative.

An officer went to the hospital and said the woman told him that Munoz came into a bedroom with a silver gun pointed at her, pulled her hair and began kicking her. He pulled her off the bed and began kicking her, according to police.

Police went to his work place in Cicero and brought him home.  Police said he told them where he had a gun. They went to a garage and found a gun wrapped in plastic in a tool chest behind a pickup truck. The gun was not loaded and did not have a live round in the chamber.

He told police the two have conflicting schedules and hardly see each other except weekends. He went in the bedroom and saw her sleeping. He went in the garage and had four beers, got the gun and went into house, into the bedroom and woke her up, according to police.  Munoz asked why she always is tired and sleeping.

Police said he admitted having the gun in his left hand and he grabbed her neck with his right hand and tried to choke her. She fell off the bed and they started talking. He hit her on the left side of the face; she was bleeding and asked for his help getting into the bathroom.

She took a shower and he went into the garage and put away the gun, according to police. He returned and she asked for his help getting to bed, police said. He said he laid down next to her and the next thing he remember was his son waking him up.
