La Grange Park Firefighters Extinguish Double Garage Fires

The La Grange Park Fire Department extinguished a two-garage fire on the 300 block of Catherine Avenue on Monday.

Firefighters in La Grange Park were called to the 300 block of Catherine Avenue and the 300 block of Ashland Avenue in La Grange Park on Monday morning around 6 a.m. for a report of two unattached garages on fire. A passerby reported the fires to the department on a mobile phone and called the department after spotting them.

When firefighters arrived at the home on Ashland Avenue, residents were attempting to get their property out of the garage. Residents at the home on Catherine Avenue were unaware of the fire prior to firefighters arriving.

Fighting the fire was momentarily delayed over concern that live wires on an overhead electrical line may have been damaged. After the situation was assessed, both fires were fought with water from hoses on both blocks.
