La Grange Park Fire Department Displays 9/11 Poem

Through the upcoming weekend, the La Grange Park Fire Department will be displaying a poem written by firefighter Michael Czmil outside both fire stations.

In the days following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, La Grange Park firefighter Michael Czmil sat down and penned an ode to the men who gave their lives at Ground Zero trying to save others.

The poem was put on display at both of the village's fire stations in the weeks following the tragedies, and were then brought inside to become part of each station's permanent collection.

In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the fire department is paying homage once again, and will be posting the poem outside of each fire house, which are located at 447 N. Catherine Ave. and at 1010 E. 31 St. in La Grange Park.
