La Grange Man Sought in Kidnapping of Girlfriend in Stickney

Police expect the man will be in custody with 24 hours, have already seized car for evidence.

A spokesman for the Stickney Police Department said they were getting a warrant today for a La Grange man wanted for kidnapping his girlfriend, possibly by knifepoint, on May 5 from her home on the 4200 block of Harlem Avenue.

The victim was returned within five hours, according to Stickney Police Chief Joseph Kretch.

La Grange police went twice on on Sunday to the 0-100 block of Hayes Avenue to look for a gray 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix used by a 27-year-old resident of the block while allegedly abducting the woman by knifepoint in Stickney. Police found the car at about 1 p.m. and it was towed and searched for evidence.

Kretch said he is unsure whether the man implied he had a knife or actually showed one. The victim was described as a 5-foot-3 woman with brown hair and green eyes.

The man will be charged with aggravated kidnapping, Kretch said, adding he expects the man to be arrested within 24 hours.
