Jewelry Reported Stolen From Home and Other Police Blotter Items

Patch's coverage of the La Grange/La Grange Park police department activities.

A resident of the 500 block of Blackstone Avenue reported Oct. 11 that a cleaning crew came to the house over the weekend and now miscellaneous jewelry worth more than $300 is missing. Further information was not available Oct. 13 from police.

Village Flowers Damaged

Flowers near the fountain and in front of , 53 S. LaGrange Rd., were reported by Public Works as found damaged at about 7:32 a.m. Oct. 11. Damage happened the previous night.

Wallet Stolen

A La Grange woman reported Oct. 12 that her junior-high daughter’s wallet was stolen at an unknown location and transactions were made on her account at the La Grange and Brookfield libraries.

Beer Truck in School Pickup Lane

A beer truck making a delivery was moved by the driver after it was reported parked in the pickup lane on Madison Avenue for Cossitt School at about 10:54 a.m. Oct. 12.

Boy on Bike Hit

A Countryside boy riding his bicycle west on Ogden Avenue and turning left onto Waiola Avenue on the morning of Oct. 12 was struck by a car turning right onto Waiola. The car kept going.  The boy and his father came into the police station at about 9:41 a.m. to report the incident. The boy refused ambulance transportation to a hospital.

Car suspicious

A black older sedan with lots of chrome was reported at about 9:21 p.m. Oct. 12 as parked on the 700 block of south Waiola Avenue with the interior light on. When a resident looked out the window, the car sped off, police were told.

Bikes Stolen, Found

A girl told police Oct. 12 that she locked up a friend’s bicycle at the , 625 W. Burlington Av., about one week ago and when she went to get the bike, it was gone. Missing was a men’s orange and blue Iron Man mountain bike fastened with a green lock.  

A girl’s 20-inch silver, purple and blue Magna bicycle was found on the 5400 block of Brainard Avenue and turned over to police at about 6:28 p.m. Oct. 11.

2 Skateboarding Incidents

A police officer confiscated a skateboard that a La Grange boy was riding in the intersection of La Grange Road and Harris Avenue at about 5:53 p.m. Oct. 12. The officer told the boy to contact a parent to come to the police station to get the skateboard. The boy’s father came to the police station, talked to an officer and retrieved the skateboard.

Three boys were reported skateboarding and littering in front of Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Rd., at about 9:19 p.m. Oct. 12. The boys were wearing black, mustard or ketchup-colored pants, police said. The officer warned the boys against skateboarding and said the garbage was picked up.
