Items Taken Out Of Unlocked Cars Parked in La Grange

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

Two people told police that items were taken Oct. 3 and 5 out of their unlocked vehicles parked in La Grange.

Money was taken out of wallet in a vehicle on the 100 block of Bassford Avenue, police learned at about 4:03 p.m. Oct. 5.  The amount was not listed.

A La Grange man reported Oct. 3 that items were taken out of a vehicle Oct. 1 in the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave. Police were not available Oct. 6 to say what was stolen.

Theft at Church

Money was stolen the morning of Oct. 3 out of a wallet of an employee at Grace Lutheran Church, 200 N. Catherine Ave., La Grange police said.

Suspect Sought

Phoenix, Ill. police asked La Grange police at about 8:58 p.m. Oct. 5 to check the area of 47th Street and LaGrange Road for a 60-year-old man who fled the scene of a sexual assault and may be carrying a 9mm Ruger gun.  The man’s vehicle was seen in that area earlier that night but La Grange police said he was gone.

Stove Fire Reported

Fire departments from La Grange and four other fire departments responded to a call of a stove fire on the 500 block of Spring Avenue at about 5:24 p.m. Oct. 4.  The department finished within 20 minutes.

Possible Scam

A man pushing a toddler in a stroller was trying to sell tickets for the American Legion door to door near Cossitt and Blackstone avenues at about 4:16 p.m. Oct. 4. The caller told police she had contacted the American Legion and was told they do not have anyone selling tickets. The man had a crew cut and was wearing a long-sleeve shirt.

Vandalism on Waiola…

A resident of the 1100 block of south Waiola called police Oct. 4  to complain of miscellaneous vandalism in the neighborhood. A window and vehicle were egged and a barricade was placed behind a car and on a porch, the resident said.  Eggs also were thrown on the 800 block of Waiola. Police planned a special watch  of the area.

…And LaGrange Road Too

Someone spray painted graffiti on a trash can and on a cement wall behind a building on the 600 block of south LaGrange Road, police learned at about 7:51 a.m. Oct. 3.
