Monday, June 17

Truck Hits Railroad Gate

A white semi hit the railroad-crossing gate at Hillgrove and South La Grange Road around 5:27 p.m., police said. The truck continued southbound on La Grange Road, but police were unable to find it.

Nothing Stolen in Home Burglary

A burglar entered a home for sale in the 100 block of Hayes sometime over the past few days, but nothing appears to be missing, police said.

Stolen Bike

A blue men’s Schwinn bike was stolen while locked in front of the La Grange Road Train Station, police said.

Stolen Tiki Decoration

A man noticed that a $50 Tiki decoration was missing from his backyard in the 800 block of Stone Avenue shortly after someone rang his doorbell around 9:27 p.m., police said.

Broken Windows at Gurrie and Spring Avenue Schools

A window was broken on the northeast side of Gurrie School, next to the baseball field, police said. Officers believe the window was probably broken by a foul ball. Only the exterior glass of the double-paned window was broken. The day before, the exterior glass of a double-paned window was broken near a door by the tennis courts at Spring Avenue School, police said.

Fireworks Set Off on Washington

A bucket with the remnants of burnt fireworks was found on a post around 9 a.m. in the 200 block of Washington Avenue, police said. Kids set off Roman candle fireworks behind a home in the 100 block of Washington, as well as bottle rockets in the 200 block of Washington between 11 and 11:30 p.m. the night before.

Envelope with Cash Stolen from Front Door

An envelope containing $25 cash was stolen after the resident taped it to the front door to pay the landscapers, police said. The landscapers didn’t show up that day.

Stolen Bike

A blue men’s 15-speed bike worth about $300 was stolen from the La Grange Road Train Station, police said. The bike was locked at the time it was taken.

Dog Bites Teen

A 15-year-old boy was bitten by a dog around 12:57 p.m. near the intersection of 49th and Spring Avenue, police said. The boy declined to be treated for the injury.
