Gang Graffiti Spree, Officer Attacked at Traffic Stop: La Grange Police Blotter

TUESDAY, DEC. 4

Van Reportedly Follows Students 

A complainant reported at 11:30 p.m. that four juveniles said they were followed on Friday by a white van in the area of 7th Avenue School. The students were told to call 911 if they see the van again.

Driver with Stolen Title 

Frank Singletary, 59, address unknown, was stopped at the corner of La Grange Road and Ogden Avenue at 9:01 a.m. and charged with felony possession of a stolen certificate of title, as well as with driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, police said. 

Illegal Driver I

Barry A. Footlick, 38, of the 0-100 block of Sherwood Lake Drive, Shererville, IN, was stopped on the 100 block of North La Grange Road at 8:30 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

MONDAY, DEC. 3

Purse Theft in Downtown

A Chicago resident reported to police at 4:45 p.m. that her purse had been stolen from the Corner Bakery on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road. The value of the purse was estimated at less than $200. (La Grange Police are specifically reminding residents to pay attention to their belongings when in restaurants and businesses.)

Jewelry Stolen

A resident reported at 4:38 p.m. that $1,500 worth of jewelry was stolen Nov. 22 at a family gathering.

Wallet Taken from Church

A La Grange Park resident reported at 2:52 p.m. that her wallet was stolen from Emmanuel Episcopal Church earlier that day. The value of the theft was estimated at $200.

Drunk Guy in Library

Police responded to the La Grange Public Library at 12:01 p.m. to remove an intoxicated 26-year-old man from inside the library. The man was transported to Adventist La Grange for his safety and to be evaluated.

SUNDAY, DEC. 2

Gang Graffiti Spree

Someone painted gang-related graffiti on a building on the 500 block of Shawmut Avenue, including “666,” “LKK” and a pitchfork. The report was filed at 10:49 a.m. Graffiti was also reported at around the same time on the 100 block of Kemman Avenue, the 400 block of Shawmut Avenue and the entrance to Gordon Park at the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Hazel Avenue.

Property Damage at Cossitt

Someone broke approximately five concrete stepping stones and stole the lock off of a storage shed at Cossitt School on the 100 block of West Cossitt Avenue. Nothing was missing from the shed. The report was filed at 10:19 a.m. The damage was estimated at $100.

THURSDAY, NOV. 29

House Silly-Stringed

Residents of the 0-100 block of North Brainard Avenue reported that between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., someone covered the front of their home with Silly String.

Man Allegedly Attacks Officer

Daniel A. Kowalski, 20, of the 1000 block of West 61st Street, La Grange Highlands, was stopped at the corner of Stone and Maple avenues at 3:08 p.m. for a traffic violation and was charged with battery and resisting a peace officer, police said. Kowalski kicked and spit at an officer, according to the report. Police said Kowalski became belligerent after the officer smelled cannabis in the car and attempted to arrest him.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 28

DUI Warrant Served

Jaime E. Medina, 41, was arrested by the Cicero Police Department at 12:41 p.m. on a La Grange Police Department warrant for driving under the influence, police said.

Porch Package Ripped Open

A resident of the 500 block of South Ashland Avenue reported that a package left on her porch for FedEx was “ripped open and rummaged through,” though nothing was taken. A special watch was entered for the area.
