Four Hit-and-Run Accidents Reported Over Three Days

In other police news, a woman reports her purse was stolen at church and another victim reports a $300 cell phone was taken.

Of four recent hit-and-run accidents involving parked cars, two were reported the afternoon of April 24 on the 200 block of south Gilbert Avenue, according to La Grange police reports. A La Grange Park man told police at about 2:49 p.m. that he found someone had hit his vehicle parked on the block. A police officer reported about half an hour later finding a car parked further north on that block that appeared to be hit by a driver who fled.

A hit-and-run accident that happened at an unknown time was reported at about 3:39 p.m. April 23 at Ogden Avenue and La Grange Road.

A La Grange Highlands man reported at about 12:21 p.m. April 22 that his car was hit while parked the previous day at Elm and Leitch avenues.

Purse, phone stolen

A La Grange Highlands woman told La Grange police April 23 that her purse was stolen earlier that morning at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 505 S. Park Rd.,  possibly outside the building.

A cell phone was reported stolen at the 7-Eleven, 9600 Ogden Ave., at about 8:44 p.m. April 23. Its value was less than $300.

Cab fare stolen

A driver for Brookfield Cab told La Grange police at about 3:26 p.m. April 22 that two teenage boys left his taxi without paying after he brought them to the 300 block of Bluff Avenue from a senior living center, 6406 Joliet Rd., Countryside. The amount of the fare was not given. The boys are thought to be about 14 and 17 years old.

Suspicious activity brings citations

Investigating possible drug activity on the 200 block of Sawyer Avenue, La Grange police said they stopped a car at about 9:40 p.m. April 23 and ticketed Joseph L. Wagner, 18, of La Grange, for driving without lights and a village ordinance violation of a minor in possession of alcohol.

Driver gets two tickets

Andrea Middleton, 22, of Justice was ticketed by La Grange police for driving while her license is suspended or revoked and one other unidentified traffic violation at 52nd Street and East Avenue at about 7:18 a.m. April 23.

Dangerous tree branch

A woman called La Grange police at about 10:33 a.m. April 22 to say a branch snapped on a tree on the parkway of the 400 block of south Waiola Avenue, and she was worried it might fall and hit a car. The Department of Public Works was notified.
