The Pleasantview Fire Protection District (Indian Head Park/La Grange Highlands) and the La Grange Park Fire Department are both holding live fire and sprinkler burn demonstrations this weekend as part of national Fire Prevention Week.
The Pleasantview demonstration will be held on Saturday (Oct. 13) at 12:30 p.m. during an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pleasantview Fire Station (1970 Plainfield Road, La Grange Highlands.)
The La Grange Park demonstration will be held on Sunday (Oct. 14) during an open house that runs from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the La Grange Park Fire Station (447 N. Catherine Ave., La Grange Park.)
“The fire sprinkler demonstration displays the dramatic difference between fires in sprinklered and unsprinklered rooms,” said a press release. “It is a vivid visualization of the tremendous speed of a typical homefire and its potential for deadly destruction. Also illustrated is the vital importance of home firesprinkler technology that can save lives and reduce property damage.
