Fire Department Rescues Dog from Salt Creek

On Friday, volunteers from the La Grange Park Fire Department were called to Possum Hollow Forest Preserve in La Grange Park to help rescue a dog named Blue.

Have you heard the one about the fire department called to get the family cat out of the tree? How about the dog stuck in a creek?

When a dog named Blue escaped from his owner in the Possum Hollow Forest Preserve along 31st Street in La Grange Park on Friday, Fire Department volunteers were called to the rescue. 

The owner told the fire department that the two had been walking when the owner lost the dog for a short time. The owner found the dog stuck in Salt Creek and unable to get out due to the steep banks on both sides.

According to a press release from the La Grange Fire Department, volunteers tied together by rope were able to assist the owner in getting down the embankment and then lead the dog to safety.

Fire department personnel said the dog was doing just fine.
