Fencing Stolen Off Two Vacant Lots

Here are some reports taken from the La Grange Police Department blotter.

Two incidents of fencing being stolen were reported Sept. 22 to .

A man in a silver Ford allegedly took fencing off a vacant lot on the 100 block of Bluff and left eastbound on Cossitt, police learned at about 5:12 p.m.

Chain-link fence posts were taken from a vacant lot at Bluff Avenue just south of Elm Avenue at about 8:57 p.m.

Investigators were not available Sept. 23 to say whether the incidents were related.

Home Burglarized

A home on the 0-100 block of Calle View Drive was burglarized, police learned at about 7:01 p.m. Sept. 21. No more information was available Sept. 23 on what was taken.

Construction Refund Wanted

A La Grange homeowner reported Sept. 21 reported paying a Brookfield contractor $1,250 for complete renovation of the home. The contractor deposited the check but was arrested a few days later on an outstanding warrant from Indiana. The resident reported difficulty getting the money back from his business or family.

‘Shadow’ Returns

A male calling himself “Shadow” left a threat in a note at the pharmacy of Walgreen’s, 2 N. LaGrange Rd., at about 3:08 p.m. Sept. 22 after a similar incident nine days earlier at another LaGrange Road business.

Police said there was no direct threat to the store, but the male will be told to stay out of Walgreen’s. Police did not say what the note stated.

A business on the 0-100 block of south LaGrange Road requested a special police watch after a letter, referring to a murder, and a compact disc containing a rap song were dropped off at the front counter at about 4:40 p.m.  Sept. 13. The letter, attributed to the same person, stated, “Last night, some people I know murdered someone I used to be cool with,” police said. A police officer listened to the rap song on the CD but said it had no potential information about a murder.

Flying Grass Hits Car

A Brookfield man told La Grange police at about 6:16 p.m. Sept. 22 that his vehicle was hit by debris while a landscaping company was cutting grass at Cossitt Avenue and shooting it onto La Grange Road. The driver’s side door had scratches, he said. The landscaping company agreed to pay for damages, and was told by police to shoot debris onto the grass not into the street.

Two Vehicles Collide

A Kia and a landscaper’s truck collided on the 1000 block of south LaGrange Road at about 8:02 a.m. Sept. 22. No more information was available from police.

Woman Collapses

 A 78-year-old woman was taken by Fire Department ambulance to Hinsdale Hospital at about 9:41 a.m. Sept. 22 after she collapsed inside a business on the 100 block of west Calendar Avenue.

Solicitors Don’t Meet Ordinance

La Grange police warned three men about the village’s soliciting ordinances after two of them were seen selling meat door-to-door on the 700 block of south Ninth Avenue at about 10:08 a.m. Sept. 22. Police stopped their vehicle after the report.

White Van Seen

Police could not find a suspicious white van, with a ladder, that was seen driving around Seventh Avenue School, 701 S. Seventh Ave., at about 4:32 p.m. Sept. 21.

Driver Gets 2 Tickets

Humberto Zamudio, 36, of Cicero was ticketed for no valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after his car collided with a Northlake woman’s vehicle at 53rd Street and LaGrange Road at about 8:02 a.m. Sept. 22.
