DUI Roundup: 42-Year-Old Man Charged After Driving on Train Tracks

DUI Roundup is a compendium of driving-under-the-influence charges reported during the week prior to Dec. 7 in Patch towns throughout the west suburbs.

ELMHURST


DEC. 1:

  • Shirley Gray, 56, 271 Green Court, Wood Dale, was arrested and charged with DUI and endangering the life of a child after police pulled over her black Jeep Grand Cherokee for driving without headlights at Wrightwood and York at 9:53 p.m. Police said she had her 13-year-old grandson in the vehicle. She was released on bond.

  • Jeffrey Frost, 39, 875 S. Chatham, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI after police responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle on the 100 block of West Park Avenue at 1:21 a.m. He was released on bond.

NOV 30:

  • Watson Lewis, 40, 21W571 Lynn Apt. 19, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his white Lincoln LS for driving too fast for conditions and improper lane use at North and Myrtle at 12:04 a.m. He was released on bond.

  • Lidia Pocic, 60, 3N550 Crown Road, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI after her gray Honda Civic was involved in an accident with an Elmhurst resident at Indiana and North End at 6:12 p.m. She was released on bond.

  • Michele N. Ross, 35, 128 S. 12th Ave., Maywood, was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI, driving with a suspended license and illegal transportation of alcohol after police pulled over her black Chrysler Sebring for disobeying a flashing red light and speeding at North and Myrtle at 1:15 a.m. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

  • NOV 29: Vyacheslav Shastov, 28, 561 Fairway View, Wheeling, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a controlled substance after police pulled over his silver Acura for improper lane use at Interstate 290 and Route 83 at 11:17 p.m. He was found to be in possession of heroin, police said. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

    NOV. 28:

    • Alexi Choza, 21, 1S276 Ardmore, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over a black Nissan Maxima for speeding and improper lane use at North and York at 1:10 a.m. Choza was released on bond.

    • Nikola Ivancevic, 43, 659 Albert, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI after police stopped him at St. Charles and West Avenue at 1:26 a.m. He was released on bond.

    NOV. 27: James Amabile, 48, 465 Prairie, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his white Toyota Camry for speeding at Prairie and May at 10:31 p.m. He was released on bond.


    HINSDALE


    NOV. 28: David W. Greiner, 42, of the 7400 block of Darien Lane, Darien, was charged with DUI, police said, after officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle driving on the train tracks, located Greiner’s car on the tracks near the intersection of Hinsdale Avenue and Madison Street at 2:45 a.m., and observed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. Greiner refused to submit to blood testing, police said. A substance that field-tested positive for cannabis and drug equipment were found in his car. In addition to DUI, Greiner was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug equipment, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released to appear in court.

    NOV. 27: Shawn P. Arnold, 28, of the 6300 block of South Havan Street, Englewood, CO, was charged with DUI, police said, after police observed him to be under the influence of alcohol during an improper lane use and speeding stop near the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Monroe Street at 3:25 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test. He was released to appear in court.


    LEMONT


    NOV. 30: Virginijus Ropas, 52, 12304 Lakeview Drive, Orland Park, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding following a traffic stop at Parker Road and Huntmaster Lane. He was issued a Jan. 9 court date at the Bridgeview Court House.


    NAPERVILLE


    NOV. 27: Alexander David Paral, 26, of Naperville, was arrested at 12:37 a.m. in the 700 block of West 5th Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

    NOV. 28: Laurie Knaple-Hardison, 38, of Oswego, was arrested at 2:08 a.m. near West 119th and South Route 59, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She posted bond.

    NOV. 30:

    • Matthew Alan Gunderson, 28, of Oswego, was arrested at 12:17 a.m. near West Ogen Avenue and Quincy Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

  • Darrell Jerome Stanciel, 37, of Sheridan, was arrested at 2:32 a.m. near McDowell Road and North Route 59, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

  • Joseph Dominc Scioli, 19, of Plainfield, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. in the 1200 block of Lympus Drive, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

  • DEC. 1:

    • Gregory John Demos, 46, of Joliet, was arrested at 2:49 a.m. near North Loomis Street and East Ogden Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

    • Kevin Scott Faucher, 26, of Sheridan, was arrested at 3:31 a.m. in the 900 block of Parkside Road, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

    DEC. 3: Brittany Lynn Tripp, 27, of Naperville, was arrested at 8:59 p.m. near West Ogden Avenue and Feldott Lane, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. She posted bond.


    OAK PARK


    DEC. 1: Anthony Williams, 18, of Maywood, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and improper display of registration during a traffic stop in the 7200 block of Madison Street around 3 a.m. He was processed, given a Jan. 13 court date and released on bond.

    DEC. 1: Kendra Roper, 23, of Oakbrook Terrace, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a crash in the 700 block of South Harlem Avenue around 1:50 a.m. She was processed and released on bond.

    NOV. 30: Alexandria Nealy, 23, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop in the 800 block of North Oak Park Avenue around 4:30 a.m. She was given a Dec. 16 court date and released on bond.

    NOV. 30: Israel Mora-Sosa, 33, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and obstructing identification during a traffic stop in the 6200 block of North Avenue around midnight. He was held on bond.

    NOV. 28: Police charged Patrick Engelhardt, 21, of Campaign, with driving under the influence of alcohol in the 1200 block of North Forest Avenue around 3:30 a.m. He was given a Dec. 16 court date and released on bond.


    RIVER FOREST


    NOV. 28: Julia Meineke, 26, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Division Street around 2:45 a.m. Her blood alcohol content was .126, police said.


    ST. CHARLES


    DEC. 1: Myles Alan Negron, 24, of the 300 block of South 2nd Avenue, St. Charles, was arrested at 7:39 a.m. on the 300 block of South 2nd Street on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a traffic-control sign, and improper lane use. Negron was pulled over after police received a complaint of a red Lincoln Navigator whose driver was driving erratically and flashing gang signs near Route  38 and Randall Road. Police were unable to find the vehicle until dispatched to an accident involving a vehicle of the same description near Riverside and South 2nd avenues, where the Navigator had strucked a parked, unoccupied van. After he was booked, he was released on his own recognizance pending a Jan. 9, 2014 court appearance.


    WHEATON


    NOV. 24: Christopher J. Deemer, 25, of the 00-99 block of Thornfield North, Hawthrne Woods, was arrested at 5:53 a.m. on the 100 block of East Pershing Avenue on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, and possession of cannabis. He posted bail and was released.

    NOV. 23: Anthony R. Galto, 36, of the 300 block of Brittnay, Geneva, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of East Route 38 on a charge of DUI. He posted bond and was released.

    NOV. 22: Daniel E. Zak, 29, of the 2200 block of Barrington Drive, Aurora, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. at Blanchard Street and Briarcliffe Boulevard on a charge of DUI. He posted bond and was released.


    WOODRIDGE


    NOV. 23: Vaidas Tumasomis, 29, of the 10600 block of South Central Avenue, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possessing drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after police investigated a possibly disabled vehicle at about 1 a.m. in the 1500 block of 75th Street.

    NOV. 23: Thomas Beller, 35, of the 16800 block of South Brentwood Court, Homer Glen, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, stopping in the roadway and driving without insurance after police investigated a suspicious vehicle at about 5:10 a.m. on 63rd.

    NOV. 22: Lester Hughes Jr., 47, of the 700 block of County Line Road, Aurora, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to wear a seat belt after he was stopped at about 9:36 p.m. during a roadside checkpoint operation on 75th Street at Woodward Avenue.
