Drunken Driver Backs into Squad Car: Police

A woman who later failed field sobriety tests backed into a squad car in the 100 block of North La Grange Road June 13 after officers stopped her for speeding, La Grange police said.

The officer had gotten out of his car and was walking toward Pamela L. Gryczan, 45, of the 200 block of East Plainfield Road in La Grange, when she began driving in reverse, police said.

No one was injured, but police said Gryczan’s car damaged the squad car.

Gryczan was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, including one count for having blood alcohol levels greater than the 0.08 legal limit. She was also charged with improper backing, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and speeding.
