Dog Fight Leads to Human Fight in La Grange, Downtown Theft Reported: Police

La Grange police reports, Oct. 20-21

Monday, October 21

Woman Reports Dog Abuse 

A woman reported she saw a neighbor abusing his dog in the 1000 block of South 7th Avenue about 4:30 p.m. The man told police he gave one of his dogs a smack on the behind because it wasn’t listening to him. The man was given a citation for having one of his dogs off a leash.

Solicitors Reports 

A man in the 400 block of South Kensington Avenue reported two males for soliciting about 5:40 p.m. He said the group was selling candy for Second Chance Ministries.

Suspended License Arrest 

Police charged Jorge Hernandez, 51, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license near the intersection of La Grange Road and Calendar Street about 8:50 a.m. He was given a Nov. 11 court date and released.

Coffee All Over 

A woman reported someone threw coffee on her car at the intersection of Madison and Hillgrove avenues about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Possible ComEd Scam Reported 

A woman in the 900 block of South Brainard Avenue reported someone had called her home and tried to get information from her. The male caller requested to confirm her ComEd account number and asked if she wanted to switch her electric provider, police said. Police reported the incident to ComEd.

Theft at AT&T Store

Someone stole a device worth more than $500 was stolen from the AT&T store about 11:50 a.m. Saturday.

Dog Fight Leads to Human Fight 

A man reported his dog was attacked by another dog and that the dog’s owners “put his hands on him,” near the intersection of 7th and 49th avenues. A 32-year-old man and his girlfriend were walking their boxer about 10 a.m. when it started fighting with a lab. The owner of the lab, a 47-year-old male, grabbed the boxer, whose owner quickly took the dog back from the other man. 

The owner of the lab then pushed the other man to the ground, grabbed his neck and said, “How do you like it?” The man denied grabbing the man, police said.
