Dad Brought Cocaine, Alcohol to Watch Daughter Play Soccer: Police

Police said they pulled the man over on La Grange Road after they saw him swerving between lanes.

Police found cocaine in the wallet of a man who said he was coming from watching his daughter play soccer at a local park Sunday in La Grange Park, according to police reports.

Andres Carrera, 45, of the 1500 block of North 15th Avenue in Melrose Park, was pulled over around 9:35 a.m. after an officer said he saw him weaving between lanes while driving north on La Grange Road.

The officer said that Carrera’s pants were “soiled in the groin area” and that he smelled like alcohol. Several open cans of Miller Lite were strewn about the car.

Carrera failed field sobriety tests but refused to take a breath test once at the police department, the report said. He told police he had been drinking while watching his daughter play soccer.

As Carrera organized cash to post bond, an officer opened Carrera’s wallet and saw a suspiciously folded $20 bill.
