Con Man Threatens to Kill La Grange Family, Demands Money

Here's an item from the La Grange police blotter.

A man called a La Grange woman from a blocked number on Sept. 14 saying he was paid a large amount of money to kill her husband and family, then asked for money to prevent the murders.

The call appears to be a scam originating in Nigeria, according to La Grange police.

Robert Wardlaw, La Grange police investigator, said the caller told the woman about the threat and then offered to accept money to stop the killings.

The matter has been turned over to the Federal Trade Commission.
