Cars Hit Two Light Poles in La Grange

Two hit-and-run accidents also among items in the La Grange police blotter.

A 21-year-old La Grange man received two citations May 3 after La Grange police said his car was exiting a driveway at 5435 Brainard Ave., hit a northbound auto, spun it around almost 180 degrees and over a curb and into a light pole on the parkway.

Justas Pagojus was ticketed for failure to yield at a private road or driveway and, under a village ordinance, damage to village-supported property. The other vehicle, a 1995 Buick Park Avenue was towed but the driver, a 70-year-old La Grange man, did not request transportation to the hospital, according to police.

A 20-year-old Countryside man was ticketed April 28 after he told police he was going south on Seventh Avenue and 51st Street at about 7:47 a.m. when a car came out of a parking lot at 850 S. Seventh Ave. and cut him off, causing his 2005 Chevrolet Malibu to leave the road and hit a light pole. Donald C. Norman was cited under a La Grange ordinance for damage to village-supported property. The other vehicle was gone when officers arrived.

An 81-year-old Chicago man reported the front left of his 1997 Toyota Camry was struck at LaGrange Road and Ogden Avenue at about 3 p.m. May 2 by a car that fled.

The driver’s door of a 2002 Kia Spectra driven by a Summit man was hit at about 3:58 p.m. April 28 at Sixth Avenue and 30 feet south of Burlington Avenue by a vehicle that left, La Grange police said.   

Driver of damaged car insists on ticket

A 63-year-old Berwyn man insisted that La Grange police ticket a woman who hit his car while entering Ogden Avenue from Locust Avenue at about 5:49 p.m. April 28.

Amy D. Johnson, 36, of La Grange was ticketed for making an improper turn.

She told police that a car in the inside westbound lane stopped for her, and she hit the Berwyn man’s 2006 Cadillac in the next lane over.
