Call About Suspicious White Van Delayed 90 Minutes

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

La Grange police said they learned 90 minutes later that a suspicious white van, with no windows on the body of the vehicle, was reported Sept. 20 near Seventh Avenue School, 701 S. Seventh Ave.

An employee said the van was stopped in the recess area/field on Eighth Avenue. When the employee got closer to check it out, the van went south on Eighth Avenue.

Police advised the employee to call in a more timely fashion.

On Sept. 11, two women in a white van offered Gummi Bears candy to a 4-year-old boy  to come into their van at 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue. Suspicious vans also were reported Sept. 12 at Seventh Avenue School, on Sept. 14 driving slowly on the 1000 block of Waiola Avenue; and Sept. 16 in front of a home on the 100 block of south Madison Avenue.

Gas Smell Reported

The La Grange Fire Department responded to a strong smell of natural gas reported outside the Field Club, 1300 W. 47th St. at about 8:36 a.m. Sept. 20. Nicor responded.

Stroller Found

La Grange police took in a stroller that apparently had been left on the street at 41st Street and Dover Avenue as of  11:17 p.m. Sept. 20. No description was given of the stroller.

Bike Found

A 26-inch, specialized Hard Rock blue/black mountain bike was left outside a home on the 800 block of south Ashland Avenue and turned in to La Grange police at about 8:36 a.m. Sept. 20.

4 Drive With Suspended Licenses

Lynette Abraham, 37, of Bellwood was ticketed for driving while her license was suspended or revoked and two other unidentified traffic violations when La Grange police stopped her car at Ogden Avenue and LaGrange Road at about 12:50 a.m. Sept. 21.

A 27-year-old Chicago man, Jair Z. Lira-Rodriguez, was ticketed for driving while his license is suspended or revoked and one other unidentified traffic violation during a traffic stop at about 7:44 a.m. at Brainard and Ogden avenues.

La Grange police ticketed Thomas Kadlec,24, of Romeoville for driving while his license is suspended or revoked and one other unidentified traffic violation when they stopped his car at 47th Street and LaGrange Road at about 4:20 p.m. Sept. 1.

Moises Hernandez, 19, of Brookfield was ticketed for driving while his license is suspended or revoked when stopped by La Grange police at Edgewood and Ogden at about 10:52 a.m. Sept. 19

Hit-and-Run Accidents

A gray Fiat struck another vehicle at East and Cossitt avenues and fled at about 7:15 a.m. Sept. 20.

A La Grange woman told police at about 11:26 a.m. Sept. 19 that another car hit her vehicle at Ogden and Catherine avenues.
