Garbage Can Theft
A silver metal garbage can with an orange X on it was stolen from in front of a home in the 500 block of South Sunset, police said.
Fireworks Shot at Car
Two boys shot fireworks at a car near the intersection of Calendar and Lincoln around 9:15 p.m., police said. The boys were gone when officers arrived.

Bullets Found Near Brainard and 47th Street
Fourteen rounds of .356 Magnum bullets were found around 1:41 p.m. near the intersection of Brainard and 47th Street, police said. The bullets could fit in the handgun that was found near Seventh Avenue School the same day, but it’s not clear whether there is a connection.

Hit-and-Run
A hit-and-run happened around 7:22 p.m. in the 0-99 block of South 6th Avenue, police said. A witness took down the license plate of the offending vehicle.

Kids Swim in Fountain
Kids were told to get out of the downtown fountain after officers saw them swimming around 3:06 p.m.
Kids Mess with McDonald’s Windows
A group of kids damaged windows on McDonald’s, 100 N. La Grange Road, police said. The restaurant had the incident on video.
Hit-and-Run
A car hit another car and drove away around 9:03 p.m. near the intersection of Ashland and Burlington, police said.
More Kids in the Fountain
Kids were playing in the fountain around 9:21 p.m., police said. An officer told them about the rules and sent them on their way.
Phone Scam
A resident of the 400 block of East Avenue received phone calls to her home and cell numbers from someone trying to scam her out of money around 9:21 p.m., police said.
Tuesday, July 16
Identity Theft
A resident of the 900 block of 8th Avenue received a call from a financial group saying his name had been used for a loan, police said. The case was classified as identity theft.
Resisting a Peace Officer
Phaeja Simone Smith, 20, of the 0-99 block of Washington in La Grange, was arrested around 8:53 p.m. in the 0-99 block of Washington, police said. She was charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
