Broken Sprinker Head Causes Pool Outside Church

Here is a list of items taken from La Grange police blotter items.

A 2-foot-deep pool of water was reported outside First United Methodist Church, 100 W. Cossitt Ave., due to a ruptured sprinkler head at about 5:32 a.m. June 19. A church representative was contacted to shut off the sprinkler system.

Hit-and-run reported

A small tan vehicle fled northbound after striking another vehicle at the 500 block of south La Grange Road, La Grange police learned at about 5:59 p.m. June 18. Police checked LaGrange Road from 47th Street to Burlington Avenue and east on 47th Street but reported not being able to find the offending vehicle.

Items lost, found

After receiving no response to fliers put up a week previously about a black, older, long-haired, “wavy” dog, found at 51st Street and La Grange Road, a resident brought in the dog on June 18 to La Grange police, who took the animal to the Hinsdale Humane Society.

A walkie-talkie radio found at about 8:46 a.m. on June 19 in Elm Park, LaGrange Road and Elm Avenue,  was turned over to La Grange police.

A man brought a blue, white and gray handbag he found at the Metra La Grange Road station on the Burlington Avenue side into the La Grange police station at 9:05 p.m. June 17. Police disposed of perishable food that had been inside the handbag.

Tickets issued

Steven M. Draniczarek, 25, of Norridge was ticketed for driving under the influence and two other unidentified traffic violations after a traffic stop at Ogden and Peck avenues at about 1:50 a.m. June 19, according to La Grange police. He refused ambulance transportation to a hospital for a nose bleed, police said.

Araceli Martinez-Martinez, 31, of Chicago was ticketed for no driver’s license and two other unidentified traffic violations after La Grange police stopped her car at about 11:58 p.m. June 18 at 47th Street and Raymond Avenue.

A 34-year-old Chicago woman, Elizabeth Gomez, was ticketed for no driver’s license and two other unidentified traffic violations after a traffic stop at LaGrange Road and Ogden Avenue at about 8:58 p.m. June 18, according to La Grange police.

Jose Zavaleta, 30, of Cicero was ticketed at about 11:26 p.m. June 16 by La Grange police at East and Ogden avenues for driving while his license is suspended or revoked and one other unidentified traffic violation, according to La Grange police.

Kids shooed away

La Grange police sent five youths in their way after they were seen on the top deck of the parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 4:30 p.m. June 18.
