Boy. 4, Says Women Tried to Lure Him Into Van With Candy

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

A 4-year-old boy told his mother that two women in a white van offered him Gummi bears candy to come into their vehicle at 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue at about 6:47 p.m. Sept. 11.    

The vehicle was a working-type van with no windows and last was seen gong west on Plainfield Road, the woman told La Grange police.

The department issued a Crime Prevention Advisory today, letting residents know about the incident. In the alert, the department described the individuals as two white women in a white panel van with no windows.

Police are asking anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward and suggested parents should take the opportunity to have a conversation with their children about stranger danger situations. 

Suspicious calls

A La Grange man told police Sept. 9 that he had been receiving telephone calls from a company called Trikon saying his computer was sending malicious emails and he needed to access his computer. The resident refused and asked for the caller’s supervisor. The caller then hung up.

That company’s telephone number is listed on the Internet as belonging to a scam company, police said.

Cannabis possession

Jong Min Pak, 28, of 1203 Grand in Aurora, was arrested for possession of 30 grams or less of cannabis while in his car on the 200 block of south Ashland Avenue at about 4:12 a.m. Sept. 9. His car was towed.

Noisy party

A homeowner on the 200 block of south Gilbert Avenue told La Grange police he could keep the volume down after someone complained about a live band playing at a party in his yard at about 10:47 p.m. Sept. 11.

Concession stand damage

An employee of the Park District of La Grange reported Sept. 9 that someone the previous night broke the door of the Babe Ruth stand at Sedgwick Park, 48th Street and East Avenue.

Sedgwick vandalism

Seven kids were reported on the roof of the fieldhouse at Sedgwick Park, 48th Street and East Avenue, at about 7:29 p.m. Sept. 10 throwing rocks at portable toilets. The youths were gone when police arrived.

Three taken to hospital

A 13-year-old boy who possibly hurt his neck at the football field of St. Cletus School, 600 W. 55th St., was taken at about 6:44 p.m. Sept. 8 by La Grange Fire Department ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

Also taken by ambulance to the hospital from Lyons Township north campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., was a 17-year-old boy who fell at about 12:45 p.m. Sept. 8 and a 17-year-old boy who fell inside the school at about 8:38 a.m. Sept. 9.

Water main break

The La Grange Public Works responded to a call of a water main break in the street on the 1100 block of south Waiola Avenue at about 10:01 p.m. Sept. 10.
