Police Blotter: Youths Turned Over to Parents, Woman Flees Hospital and More

TUESDAY, JUNE 5
Youths and Alcohol
Two 15-year-old boys allegedly tried to steal alcohol at Walgreens, 2 N. La Grange Rd., at about 4:11 p.m. June 5. The store did not want to press charges. The boy were turned over to their parents.
Stuck in Library Elevator
The La Grange Fire Department freed some passengers stuck in the elevator at the La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., at about 6:21 p.m. Library officials were to call to have the elevator checked.

Woman Flees Hospital in Gown
A 30-year-old woman wearing a hospital gown was reported running south from Adventist la Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 S. Willow Springs Rd., at about 10:48 a.m. Police found her at 52nd Street and Willow Springs Road and returned her to the psychiatric ward of the hospital.
Mail Fraud Suspected
A La Grange resident reported receiving suspicious checks in the mail, and suspected fraud. Police are investigating.

MONDAY, JUNE 4
Woman Threatened by Email
A La Grange woman told police June 4 that she had received a death threat by email; someone claimed they had been hired to kill her for some unknown reason. More information was not available as of June 8 from police on whether this was a hoax or an actual threat.
Search for Man on House Arrest
La Grange police searched unsuccessfully on June 4 for a 52-year-old man who was supposed to be on house arrest in Chicago, but might be at a brother’s house in La Grange. The man had not been seen for three days and may have cut off his ankle bracelet, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Police searched the brother’s house and said they did not find the wanted man. The brother told police he last saw the man over the weekend at his sister’s house in Chicago.
