Blotter: Vandals Use Toilet Paper, Eggs, Paint at 3 Locations

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters

An area near the Vaughan Building of the Lyons Township High School north campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., was hit with toilet paper, La Grange police learned at about 1:45 a.m. May 18.

Garage Egged

A garage on the 1100 block of south Kensington Avenue was struck by thrown eggs during the night, police learned at about 10:50 a.m. May 19. No permanent damage was reported.

Business Spray Painted

The east and west walls of a business on the 300 block of Washington Avenue were spray painted, La Grange police learned at about 8:38 a.m. May 19. The business had cleaned up most of the paint by the time police arrived. The graffiti was not gang-related.

Ding-Dong Ditching Too

A resident of the 300 block of Eighth Avenue reported that someone rang the doorbell at about 9:59 p.m. May 19, then ran. Witnesses saw four or five kids in the area who took off toward Bluff Avenue.

Railroad Worker Taken to Hospital

A 56-year-old man who works for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad and was suffering chest pains on the 0-100 block of Beach Avenue was taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 7:47 a.m. May 18.

Man in Yard a Friend

A resident of the 900 block of south LaGrange Road was getting ready to leave for wok at about 4:35 a.m. May 19 and saw a man dressed in black in the yard and who was on a bike.  Police determined the man was known to the family, was intoxicated and was trying get back his car keys.

Two More Drunks

A La Grange man in his 50s was found passed out in the bushes on the 1000 block of Madison Avenue at about 7:54 p.m. May 20. Police said he was highly intoxicated and they brought him home.

A man who was unruly and intoxicated at a restaurant on the 0-100 block of south LaGrange Road at about 8:31 p.m. May 19 was sent on his way on foot.

Girl Returns to Old Home

A 15-year-old girl who used to live in a home on the 900 block of Seventh Avenue, which now is vacant, returned to the house at about 8:41 p.m. May 19, a neighbor told La Grange police. The neighbor called the parents, who said they had been looking for the girl,. They then picked her up. 

Swearing Guitarist Reported

A man wearing a pink shirt and with a guitar on his back was swearing in front of Starbucks, 38 S. LaGrange Road, at about 10:30 a.m. May 18. He was gone when police arrived but an officer knows who he is and will warn him next time he is seen. 

Man Trying to Start Fight

A man wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans was trying to start trouble with people who just got off the train at the depot, LaGrange Road and Hillgrove Avenue, at about 9:17 p.m. May 19. The 38-year-old Brookfield man was sent on his way.

Skateboarders Gone

Skateboarders were reported on the top deck of the parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 5:53 p.m. May 18, but were gone when police arrived.
