Blotter: Suspicious Pedestrian, Dining Room Fire and More

The following items are from Patch's reporting of the La Grange police blotter.

Pedestrian Suspicious

A man walking north on LaGrange Road past the LaGrange Theatre and Horton’s and looking into windows was reported to police at about 1:46 p.m. Dec. 26. He was in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, wearing a blue cap and brown coat. He last was seen near Burlington Avenue but police could not locate him.

Dining Room Fire

Fire Departments from La Grange, Brookfield, McCook and Pleasantview Fire Protection District responded to a report of a dining room fire in a home in the 700 block of Brighton Lane at about 7:08 p.m. Dec. 25. They cleared the scene within a half hour.

Man Found Wanted

Nicholas Scott Yanulis, 21, of Brookfield was found wanted on a Kane County warrant for obstructing identification and consumption of liquor by a minor, said La Grange police, when they stopped his car at East and Lincoln avenues at about 12:02 a.m. Dec. 25.  He bonded out.

Cans Missing

A resident of the 200 block of Sawyer Avenue told La Grange police Dec. 24 that he thinks a friend took 10 bags of aluminum cans but did not see an actual theft.

Shoving Match

A showing match was reported at about 1:50 p.m. Dec. 24 at the 7-Eleven store, 9600 W. Ogden Ave., but the offender and victim had left before police arrived. They were in a black Chevrolet Equinox and a red Ford Escape.  

Hit-and-run Reported

A white pickup truck struck another vehicle at LaGrange Road and Calendar Avenue at about 5:44 p.m. Dec. 23 and fled south on LaGrange Road, police said.

Checking Fraud

An East Avenue resident reported Dec. 22 fraudulent charges on a business checking account. Further information was not available Dec. 27.

Two Cross Gates

Two men ages 22 and 33 were ticketed after La Grange police said they crossed lowered railroad gates at LaGrange Road and Burlington Avenue at about 9:15 p.m. Dec. 22.

Five Questioned

Four boys age 17 and an 18-year-old man were questioned and released after suspicious activity was reported at Sedgwick Park, 49th Street and 11th Avenue, at about 10 p.m. Dec. 22.
