Blotter: String of Vehicle Break-Ins, Man With Gun Reported, and More

The following items are from Patch's reporting of the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

La Grange Park police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and take the keys after one car was stolen and three others entered overnight on March 10.

A vehicle parked on the 900 block of north Stone Avenue was stolen during the night of March 10, but later recovered in Westchester. A possible suspect was identified, police said, but as of March 16, there have been no arrests.

Three vehicles parked on the 800 block of Spring were entered during that same night, police said. Nothing was taken from one, but change was stolen from the other two, police said.

All of the vehicles were unlocked and the stolen vehicle also had the keys inside.

The department’s safety bulletin states, “Don’t make it any easier for criminals. Use locks for their intended purpose – reducing crime and the opportunity for crime.”

Man With Gun Reported

A resident of the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue reported a man with a gun on his hip walking toward Plainfield Road at about 3:44 p.m. March 13. The man was 40 to 55 years old, had gray hair and wore a dark shirt and jeans, police were told. Police could not locate him.

Mail Scam Tried

A La Grange man told police March 14 that he received a FedEx check for $2,900 from a California company regarding getting a job. He said he checked online and found the company, ZGC, did not exist. Police said this was a mail scam.
