Blotter: People, Vehicles Look Suspicious, Halloween Tricks and More

Here are a few items from Patch's coverage of the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

A male wearing a yellow shirt was reported going in and out of the 7-Eleven store, 121 Hillgrove Ave., at about 12:14 a.m. Nov. 1. Police later found him at East and Ogden avenues where he said he was walking to First and Ogden avenues in Lyons to get a ride. 

A resident of the 900 block of south Catherine Avenue reported a father, dressed as a vampire, and three kids were trick-or-treating at about 7 p.m. Oct. 31 and videotaping, which she thought odd. The resident said she thinks the father was videotaping her doorway.

A white, rusted van with no back windows driven by a man was reported driving near Seventh Avenue School, Seventh Avenue and 50th Street, at about 6:52 a.m. Oct. 31.

A black, newer, two-door vehicle with a male driver was reported following three teens walking west on Elm Avenue around Spring and Waiola avenues at about 8:21 p.m. Oct. 31.

A male wearing a hoodie and jeans was reported lurking between two homes on the 300 block of south Kensington Avenue at about 11:54 p.m. Oct. 29. One resident yelled and said the male fled.

Countryside police stopped a vehicle at 55th Street and Willow Springs Road that they said was filled with eggs and had come from La Grange. Police from La Grange said they assisted without incident.

Halloween Tricks

A resident of the 200 block of Peck Avenue reported their house being egged at about 7:07 p.m. Oct. 31. The resident followed the offenders to an apartment building on Cossitt Avenue and said they possibly went to the second floor. Police had no more information.

A resident of a home on the 100 block of Madison Avenue reported kids egged a house at about 7:26 p.m. Oct. 31 and were seen 30 minutes later in a bank parking lot at 1000 S. La Grange Road.  No more information was available.

‘Marijuana’ Found

A resident of the 0-100 block of Drexel Avenue was walking and reported finding a bag of what appeared to be marijuana on the sidewalk at about 11:17 a.m. Oct. 28. The bag was turned over to La Grange police for disposal. 

Drivers Ticketed 

Miraca J. Gardley, 23, of Bellwood was ticketed Oct. 22 for disobeying a stop sign and no valid driver’s license after La Grange Park police said she disregarded a stop sign on 26th Street while driving south on Kemman Avenue at about 1:41 a.m.

A 44-year-old Joliet man got three tickets after La Grange Park police said his 2007 Infiniti was going 44 mph in a 30-mph zone on the 800 block of north La Grange Road at about 12:01 a.m. Oct. 27. Luis Castellanos was ticketed for speeding, no insurance and driving while his license is suspended.

A 72-year-old Lemont woman told La Grange police she was talking to her grandson in her car, got distracted, took her eyes off the road and went up onto a parkway on the 300 block of south Kensington Avenue at about 3:23 p.m. Oct. 26. Irene Kieta was ticketed for improper lane usage.

Water Main Breaks

A break in a water main in the street on the 700 block of East Avenue was reported to La Grange Public Works at about 7:28 a.m. Oct. 31.

Scooter Found

A small, silver Spiderman scooter was found in Waiola  Park, 47th Street and Waiola Avenue, at about 8:37 a.m. Oct. 31.

Multiple Cars Damaged

A woman reported Oct. 27 that her car was damaged Oct. 20 while southbound on Brainard Avenue from 47th Street.  

A Brookfield resident reported at about 8:05 p.m. Oct. 29 that his car was keyed and air let out of the tires while it was parked on the 400 block of east Maple.

Fight Reported

A juvenile was arrested after a fight at Washington and Cossitt avenues at about 3:31 p.m. Oct. 27. An ambulance was called for someone with an eye injury.

Bagels Thrown

A red van drove by a home on the 200 block of Leitch Avenue and threw bagels at the door and on the front lawn at about 9:14 p.m. Oct. 27. Police contacted a grandparent who will talk to those involved.
