Blotter: No Charges Issued After Fight, Gun Reported and More

No Charges

No charges were issued after a fight and someone reported falling down the stairs of an apartment building on the 300 block of east Plainfield Road at about 1:01 p.m. Nov. 12. One person was taken to the hospital by a Pleasantview Fire Protection District ambulance. No further information was available, police said Nov. 15.

Battery reported

A woman reported at about 7:34 p.m. Nov, 14 that her former boyfriend had assaulted her about 10 to 15 minutes earlier near 47th Street and East Avenue. The woman was to come in the following day to provide more information. Police said Nov. 15 that they had no more information.

Gun Reported

Occupants of a red Ford Escape sport-utility vehicle were reported at the parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 7:47 p.m. Nov. 12  throwing a female’s shoe at someone. One person had a gun, police were told. Police had no further information Nov. 15.

Sore Sellers

Three teen boys who left Chimera Comics, 19 S. La Grange Road, after the store refused to buy their comics at about 5:20 p.m. Nov. 14, threw those comics on the ground and walked south, La Grange police said. One boy wore a Chicago Blackhawks jersey.

Police Callers Are Suspicious

A resident of the 900 block of south Spring Avenue reported at about 11:17 p.m. Nov. 12 that a dark-colored sedan drove by slowly about 30 minutes previously and someone inside took pictures.

A man dressed all in black with a white hoodie was reported at about 4:29 p.m. Nov. 12 pacing south on the 700 block of Edgewood toward Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. Police could not find him.

A woman reported she was in a car behind an older maroon vehicle with four occupants at 47th Street and La Grange Road at about 4:47 p.m. Nov. 11 and saw two people in the back seat with masks covering their faces. The car, possibly an Oldsmobile Cutlass, pulled into a white house on the west side of La Grange Road and about six buildings north of 47th Street, police were told. Police searched the block and nearby streets and could not find the vehicle.

Conductor, Train Rider Argue

La Grange police were called at about 8:12 p.m. Nov. 11 to the La Grange Road train depot for an argument between a Metra conductor and a 38-year-old man riding the train. The man was off the train and everything was OK, police said, adding three witnesses approached an officer to say the conductor started the argument. An officer told them to contact Metra police in the future.

Driver Wanted on Warrant

La Grange Park police found that Maria E. Garcia, 36, of Berwyn, halted Nov. 7 for a traffic stop was wanted on a conditional release warrant from the Cook County sheriff’s police.  A La Grange Park police officer was eastbound on 31st Street at about 2:31 a.m. at Community Drive and reported seeing an eastbound silver Volkswagen Jetta with only one red taillight activated. That car was stopped at Barnsdale Road. Garcia posted $1,000 bail on a $10,000 bond, police said.

Three Drivers Uninjured in Crash

All three drivers refused medical treatment after their vehicles collided at about 6:46 p.m. Nov. 8 at Willow Springs Road and Community Memorial Drive near Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. Involved were a 2005 Nissan driven by a 28-year-old Park Ridge woman, the 2001 Toyota Corolla of a 38-year-old Western Springs man and the 2002 Honda CRV driven by a 42-year-old Oak Park woman. No tickets were issued.

Sisters’ Car in Crash

No injuries were reported after the front of a 2005 Toyota Camry, driven by a Brookfield woman and owned by the Sisters of St. Joseph in La Grange Park, collided with the rear of a 1998 Volkswagen Passat, driven by a Brookfield man, at Ogden and Catherine avenues at about 7:26 a.m. Nov. 9. No tickets were issued. 

Teen Ticketed

A 16-year-old boy was ticketed Nov. 11 for failure to yield while turning left after La Grange police said he was turning left from eastbound 47th Street onto Edgewood Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. and the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta he was driving was stuck by a 49-year-old La Grange man’s 1994 Chrysler going west. No injuries were reported.

Aid on Fire Alarms

The La Grange Fire Department provided mutual aid on two fires reported in La Grange Park – at about 12:11 a.m. Nov. 15 in the 1600 block of Forest Road and the smell of electrical burning reported at about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 14 on the 600 block of east Harding.

Two Taken to Hospital

An unresponsive 82-year-old man who was a patient in doctors’ offices on the 500 block of Burlington Avenue was taken to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital by Fire Department ambulance at about 11:48 a.m. Nov. 14.

A 21-year-old man who had a seizure inside a business on the 600 block of south La Grange Road was taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 5:20 p.m. Nov. 12.

Wires Down

ComEd responded to a report at about 5:32 p.m. Nov. 12 of wires down in the intersection at Seventh and Elm avenues.

Wires also were reported down in the rear of a building on the 300 block of south LaGrange Road at about 6:10 p.m. Nov. 12.

Light Fixture Damaged

A resident of the 200 block of Stone Avenue reported Nov. 13 that someone had damaged the light fixture in front of the home.
