Blotter: Man Uses Alias to Try to Get Prescriptions at La Grange, Hinsdale Hospitals

Here are items from Patch's reporting from the La Grange police blotter.

La Grange police picked up a 38-year-old man who allegedly was trying to get prescriptions in the emergency room of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Road, by giving a false name at about 3:28 p.m. May 16. Police said he tried the same thing at Hinsdale Hospital.

He was wanted on warrants from the Evergreen Park police for health care fraud and from the Logan County sheriff’s office for an undisclosed reason. Evergreen Park police were to pick him up.  

Bicyclist ‘Runs Over’ Boy

A La Grange mother reported at about 7:40 p.m. May 16 that a neighborhood boy had been picking on her son and just ran him over with his bicycle. A police officer told both boys to behave and the bicyclist’s grandmother said she will keep an eye on the boy.

Daughter Attacked at LT

A La Grange Park mother told La Grange police May 16 that her daughter was attacked the previous Friday at the Lyons Township High School north campus, 100 S, Brainard Ave. Police had no further information May 17.

Decorative Lights Cut

A resident of the 500 block of Eighth Avenue told police May 16 that someone had cut the decorative lights off a gazebo within the last four months.

Boy Found With Marijuana

A 17-year-old Chicago boy was charged with possession of less than 10 grams with intent to deliver after being arrested on the 100 block of Washington Avenue at about 11:47 p.m. May 15. Police investigating another incident said a group of boys was walking south on Washington and when they saw officers, one threw something into the bushes. The intent to deliver charge came from how the marijuana was packaged, according to an investigator.

Gas Smell Reported

A “minor” smell of natural gas was reported in the back yard of a home on the 500 block of Banyon Lane at about 6:05 p.m. May 15.

ER Patient Won’t Leave

A man who was released from the emergency room of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Road, was still wearing a hospital gown and refused to leave. He was given a ride by La Grange police to the train station at about 3:11 a.m. May 15

Pace Bus Gets Flat Tire

A Pace bus with a possible rear flat tire was seen going south on LaGrange Road from Cossitt Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. May 14.  The bus stopped at Plainfield Road and a police officer stood by until another bus arrived.

Skateboarder Cited

A 20-year-old La Grange Park man was given a citation at about 9:18 p.m. May 14 for violating a La Grange ordinance and skateboarding at LaGrange Road and Calendar Avenue.  

Sister Questions Estate Paperwork

A La Grange woman told police May 14 that someone came to her door to drop off paperwork regarding her deceased sister but she thinks the papers are fraudulent. Police plan a special watch of the home.

Former Student Writing ‘Threatening’ Messages

Officials at Ogden Avenue School, 501 W. Ogden Ave., told La Grange police May 16 that a former student, now 18, was posting threatening messages online about staff members. The ex-student  described fantasized scenarios of things the two staff members supposedly said or did, according to police. Officials though did not want police to contact the former student.  

La Grange Woman Loses iPhone on El

A La Grange woman told police May 16 that her iPhone 3GS was lost or stolen on the el train at about 6:30 p.m. May 16. She is not sure where the phone disappeared but said when she calls her number, a man keeps answering.

Cars Burglarized

Cash and miscellaneous items were reported May 15 as having been stolen the previous day out of a car parked in village Lot 2 at Sixth and Harris avenues.

A Brookfield woman told La Grange police May 15 that someone broke the window of her car parked in village Lot 11, on Sixth Avenue south of Burlington Avenue, between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and stole two cell phones.

A La Grange woman reported May 14 that items were taken out of her vehicle while it was parked in village Lot 2, Sixth and Harris avenues.  

Car Break-in Tried

Two males wearing hats tried to break into a car parked on the 700 block of south LaGrange Road at about 9:46 p.m. May 14. They dropped a bag found to contain dog feces. Police will keep a special watch on that block.

Bicycles Stolen

A gray Trek 720, 20-inch bicycle belonging to a La Grange Park man was reported May 15 as stolen from the bike rack at the Stone Avenue train station, 625 Burlington Ave.

A La Grange Park man told La Grange police that his black Beach Comber bicycle with wide, white-rimmed tires was stolen May 14 from a bike rack at Ashland and Hillgrove avenues. He had bought the bike for $50 at a garage sale.
