Blotter: Man Jumped By Two With Bats and More

Man is Jumped
La Grange police were still investigating a report that a man was jumped by two people with baseball bats at La Grange Road and Hillgrove Avenue at about 12:37 a.m. on Jan. 30. The victim, a 19-year-old from Bellwood, said one attacker wore a black, full-size ski mask .
Girl Suspicious of Help

A La Grange woman reported her daughter was looking on the 100 block of Drexel Avenue at about 5 p.m. on Jan. 26 for their dog that ran off when she was approached by a man who offered to help her. He told her to get into his car, but she refused and walked home. The dog was found, but the family is worried the man may have seen where they live. He was in his 50s, with longish hair and drove a silver Kia Sorrenta or similar car.
Card Scam Tried

Two people used the same credit card, possibly stolen, to try to purchase more than $400 in gift cards at Walgreens, 2 N. La Grange Rd., at about 3:15 p.m. Jan. 28. An employee cancelled the second transaction, deactivating the gift cards.
Parking Garage Busy
Two teens were arrested on minor drug charges after they were hanging off the edge of the second floor of the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 3:18 p.m. Jan. 28. One juvenile was arrested for possession of less than 30 grams of cannabis and the other for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police chased away two boys who were skateboarding in the parking garage at about 4:50 p.m. Jan. 28 and warned they would be charged with a local ordinance violation next time they were caught. At 6:40 p.m. that same night, police chased away two more boys who were skateboarding there.
Two iPods were stolen out of an unlocked car parked on the top deck of the parking garage, police learned at about 9:01 p.m. Jan. 27.
