Blotter: Man Cut Off From Free Coffee Threatens Bank Manager

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange police blotter.

A man threatened a La Grange bank manager who asked him to leave May 23 because he kept coming in and drinking free coffee.

The manager said the man, in his 50s, replied, “You better watch who you are talking to on your life” and left southbound on foot at about 4:21 p.m..

He was wearing a zip-up shirt and gray pants.

The bank manager will call La Grange police if he returns.

Report Causes Police to Check Crossings

La Grange police checked overhead signals at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad crossings from LaGrange Road to Gilbert Avenue at about 10:34 a.m. May 22 after Riverside police found a suspicious package that contained a drawing of the Burlington Northern signals.

Riverside police said the item was related to geocaching game and there was no threat.

A Guaranteed Fight Winner

A man with gray hair and wearing khaki pants was seen punching himself at LaGrange Road and Ogden Avenue at about 3:41 p.m. May 21. He was found at Burlington Avenue and LaGrange Road and said he was having a fight with himself. He was given a ride home to Riverside.

Cushion Found on Tracks

A mattress reported on the railroad tracks at 47th Street and East Avenue was found to be a couch cushion and was removed at about 5:17 p.m. May 23.

Graffiti Found at Parking Garage

Graffiti was found on the ground floor on the southeast corner of the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 10:23 a.m. May 22.  A Cook County graffiti removal crew will be contacted.
