Blotter: Jewelry Stolen, Nail in the Foot and More

The following items are from Patch's reporting of the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

Jewelry Taken in Home

Jewelry of an unidentified value was stolen between March 8 and 12 out of  a home on the 400 block of Sixth Avenue. No forced entry was made into the home.  

Cell Phone Seller

A man in a dark sedan was reported trying to sell cell phones behind a building on the 100 block of Washington Avenue at about 5:53 p.m. March 14. Police could not locate him.

Teen Found With Tobacco

A 17-year-old McCook boy received a compliance ticket for possession of tobacco by a minor at about 7:22 a.m. March 14 on the 100 block of Blackstone Avenue.

Boy Gets Nail in Foot

A 9-year-old boy with a nail in his foot was brought to the La Grange Fire Department, 300 W. Burlington Ave., at about 7:04 p.m. March 13 and taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

‘Lost’ Car Was Blocked-in

An woman came to La Grange Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road, at about 12:25 p.m. March 9 to say she could not find her car. A police officer drove her around and said they found her vehicle in the parking garage, 80 S.  Sixth Ave., where she had taken up two spaces and another vehicle had blocked her in. The other vehicle moved and she was able to exit.

Car Keyed

A black Honda parked in the Walgreens lot, 2 N. La Grange Road, was keyed, La Grange police found out at about 12:21 p.m. March 13.

Stove Fire Reported

The La Grange Fire Department responded to a possible stove fire on the 4000 block of Franklin Avenue at about 12:34 p.m. March 9.

Youths Sent Away

An anonymous caller said youths were hanging out at about 1:27 p.m. March 12 on the brick paver sidewalk in front of a building on the 400 block of west Burlington Avenue where they did not live. The caller wanted the youths to leave and police sent the three on their way.

Driver Reckless

A reckless and possibly drunk driver in a silver Lexus was reported near 47th Street and La Grange Road at about 7:28 p.m. March 14. but could not be found by police.

Traffic Surveys Continue

La Grange police issued 12 state tickets against drivers during a traffic survey that started at 3:43 p.m. March 14 at Ogden and Ashland avenues, where only right turns are allowed at certain times onto Ogden for northbound traffic. Another six tickets were issued at that same intersection starting at about 4:04 p.m. March 13 and 10 more at about 3:46 p.m. March 12.

Jeep Hits Car, Flees

A Berwyn woman told La Grange police that a 1994 Jeep hit the rear of her 2005 Ford Taurus at Ogden Avenue and La Grange Road and fled at about 4:59 p.m. March 9.

Another Hit-and-Run

Countryside police were looking for a blue, four-door vehicle that was involved in a hit-and accident at Taco Bell, 5611 S. La Grange Road, and fled north at about 12:23 p.m. March 14, but La Grange police said they could not find it.
