Blotter: Band Members, Football Players Cleared from Parking Garage and More

The following items are from Patch's coverage of the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

Garage Meant for Parking

Eight youths were reported playing touch football on the top floor of the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 7:23 p.m. Dec. 12, but were gone when La Grange police arrived.

A loud band was playing on the top floor of the parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., La Grange police were told at about 2:25 p.m. Dec. 10. Police found the musicians and sent them on their way.

Child Abduction Unfounded

An attempted child abduction was reported in front of St. Francis Xavier School, 124 N. Spring Ave., at about 8:22 p.m. Sept. 10 involving a white, full-size van occupied by a couple in their 40s. The youth told La Grange police that the van pulled over and the two asked for directions, and did not try to grab him.

Car Damaged

A brick was thrown through the window of a car parked on the 1400 block of Cleveland Avenue between 6 p.m. Dec. 11 and 9 a.m. Dec. 12, according to La Grange Park police. 

Calls Harassing

A 23-year-old La Grange woman told police Dec. 12 that she had been receiving harassing telephone calls for a couple months and foot-fetish messages had been texted to her cell phone.

Photographer Suspicious

A restaurant on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road told La Grange police that a male was outside the store taking photos of young girls inside the business at about 6:56 p.m. Dec. 11. The man was wearing a black jacket and carrying a black backpack with red trim. Police have an idea of who he may be.

Disturbance Reported

No arrests were made in a disturbance at about 11:27 p.m. Dec. 10 in front of a home on the 400 block of Benton Avenue involving three sisters in their 30s and 40s from Brookfield.

Water Main Breaks

The La Grange Public Works Department was called for a water main break in the parkway on the 200 block of south Peck Avenue that was reported at about 2:25 p.m. Dec. 10.

Stop Sign Hit

A 60-year-old Westchester woman was not ticketed after her 1990 Chevrolet  struck a stop sign at LaGrange Road and 52nd Street  at about 10:18 a.m. Dec. 3, according to La Grange police.

Fault Not Proven

La Grange police said they could not determine who was at fault after a car and charter bus collided in the northbound lanes of La Grange Road near Burlington Avenue at about 12:08 p.m. Dec. 8.

A 51-year-old Westchester woman said her 1997 Lincoln Town Car was stopped in the right lane when the bus approached from behind in the center lane and sideswiped her vehicle, breaking the mirror. The driver of the Bestway Charter Transportation bus told police he was stopped and the car sideswiped his vehicle. Police said the car mirror had a paint transfer but they could not tell if it was from the bus or was old.

Hit-and-Run Reported

A 73-year-old Western Springs woman told La Grange police that her 2010 Honda Accord was hit at about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 on the 100 block of south Madison Avenue by a vehicle that fled.

Three Drivers Ticketed

Maurice M. Smith, 32, of Chicago was ticketed by La Grange Park police for driving while his license is suspended and no insurance when they stopped his 2009 Chevrolet Impala on the 500 block of north LaGrange Road at about 12:06 a.m. Dec. 7.

A 61-year-old woman from Berwyn was ticketed for failure to reduce her car’s speed to avoid an accident after La Grange police said the front of the 2011 Ford Escape she was driving struck the rear of a 2004 Honda Odyssey driven by a 46-year-old La Grange woman at Gilbert and Cossitt avenues at about 4:05 p.m. Dec. 10.

A 17-year-old La Grange girl was ticketed for failure to yield after the 2009 Hyundai she was driving collided at 47th Street and LaGrange Road with a Glenview man’s 2007 Lexus at about 4:18 p.m. Dec. 9.
