Blotter: False Kidnapping Report Made, Bikes Stolen and More

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

False Kidnapping Report Made

A 19-year-old Brookfield man called La Grange police at about 12:04 a.m. June 1 to say he was just kidnapped, forced to drive a man and was at Bluff and Benton avenues. He said he had picked up a man at East and Ogden avenues who said he needed a ride. Police  said the call was unfounded and he was charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report.

Bike, Lacrosse Stick Stolen

A resident of the 700 block of south Spring Avenue reported May 29 that, two months ago, someone stole a lacrosse stick out of his vehicle parked in the driveway; and, one month ago, a 10-speed bicycle was stolen out of the garage. He did not know whether the garage had been locked, La Grange police said.

An women’s unregistered, unsecured silver mountain bike was stolen out of a common storage area of a building on the 1100 block of Homestead Avenue, La Grange Park police learned May 31. The time of the theft is unknown. Its value was less than $500.

An Indian Head Park man reported at about 9:27 p.m. May 30 that his Novarra men’s silver, 21-inch bicycle had been stolen at the Stone Avenue train station, 625 W. Burlington Ave.

Grandmother’s Wallet Missing

A La Grange woman told police May 29 she believes her son may have stolen his grandmother’s wallet while she had been visiting.

Beer Bottles Break Windows

Windows broken by thrown beer bottles were found May 28 at Chase Products, on the 1400 block of Barnsdale Road. The exact time the damage was done is unknown, according to La Grange Park police.

Bush Fire Out

A fire was reported in the bushes at the La Grange Shell, 4705 S. Willow Springs Road, at about 5:43 p.m. May 29, but was out when police arrived. How the fire started was unknown, police said.

Parking Garage, Village Hall Complaints

Skateboarders and a male who appeared to be camping out in the lobby of the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., were reported at about 10:05 a.m. May 31. Police sent four youths on their way.

Two skateboarders seen in the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., at about 3:40 p.m. May 30 were sent on their way by police.

Three males were seen sitting by the rear door of La Grange village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road, at about 11:34 p.m. May 30, but were gone when police arrived.

Stickers Stolen, Garbage Not Picked Up

A man living on the 300 block of east Lincoln Avenue reported May 29 that when he puts out his garbage on Sunday nights, the stickers are being stolen and the garbage is not taken. La Grange police plan a special watch of that area.

Man ‘Screaming in Street’

A man was reported screaming while standing in the middle of the street at La Grange Road and Burlington Avenue at about 7:29 a.m. May 29.  Police found a 50-year-man who denied being in the street and sent him on his way.
