Kids Toys Stolen From Yard
Someone stole a rubber tub containing five basketballs from a home in the 400 block of Newberry Road around 3:20 a.m. The resident told police he was hosting his daughter’s birthday party earlier that day and had set out a hoop and the tub of balls so the kids could play.
That night, he told police he heard a commotion in his front yard and saw three people running north on Newberry and get into a car waiting at the corner, police said.

Friday, August 9
No Valid License, Insurance
Police charged Omaira Mejia, 28, of Lyons, with driving without a valid license or insurance and speeding about 8:20 a.m. near the intersection of La Grange Road and Monroe Street. She was processed, given a Sept. 11 court date and released on bond.

Wednesday, August 7
Suspended License
Police charged Luis Huante, 36, of Cicero, with driving on a suspended license and disobeying a traffic device about 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Outstander. He was processed, given a Sept. 11 court date and released on bond.
Man Stopped for Speeding in Construction Zone
Police charged John Pena, 67, of Elgin, with speeding about 9:20 a.m. in the 900 block of La Grange Road. Police said Pena was going 68 mph in a 30 mph construction zone. He was issued a traffic citation and released.
Suspended License Arrest
Police charged Griselda Sanchez, 26, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license and without insurance about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Kemman Avenue and 29th Street. She was processed, given a Sept. 11 court date and released.
