Babysitter Arrested for Stealing, Forging Checks

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

A 19-year-old babysitter was arrested Sept. 13 after La Grange Park police said on the 1200 block of Cleveland Avenue on Sept. 9. She wrote more than $460 in checks to herself and forged the resident’s signature, police said.

Courtney B. Frundle, who lives on Blanchan Avenue in Brookfield, was charged with theft under $500 on a compliant signed by the home owner.

Apartment Burglarized

An apartment on the 0-100 block of south Ashland Avenue was burglarized, La Grange police learned at about 6:15 p.m. Sept. 15. An investigation is pending; the loss is unknown.

Car on Fire

The La Grange Fire Department extinguished a fire in a car, which was leaking gas, at Dover and Hillgrove avenues at about 8:14 a.m. Sept. 15. The car was towed.

ATM Safe Exposed

A panel door in an ATM on the 300 block of east Calendar Avenue was reported open at about 7:12 p.m. Sept. 14. The safe was locked but the door could not be closed. The key holder was notified.

Another Suspicious White Van

A white van with hazard lights flashing and driving slowly on Ashland Avenue near 53rd Street was found on the 1000 block of Waiola Avenue at about 7:25 a.m. Sept. 14. Two men inside the van were going to a home on that block to give a roofing estimate, which was confirmed by the resident.

After a 4-year-old boy told his mother that two women in a white van offered him Gummi Bears candy to come into their vehicle at 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue at about 6:47 p.m. Sept. 11, police received a report the following day of a suspicious van near Seventh Avenue School. That incident was not connected, police said.

Man Splits Open Arm

A 36-year-old man who split open his arm near Catherine and Harris avenues was taken by La Grange ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 10:19 a.m. Sept. 14. The report did not say whether the incident happened in his home, a business or on the street.

Kids Dancing, Not Fighting (a la Westside story?)

A La Grange police officer—responding to a call at about 7:33 p.m. Sept. 14 of 10 kids in Denning Park, Gilbert Avenue and 50th Court, who looked like they may get into a fight—found a group who was dancing.

Computer Virus Causes Call

A La Grange woman told police Sept. 15 that her ex-husband possibly violated an emergency order of protection. Police found a virus in his computer that caused it to send an ad to her. Police told the man to fix his computer.      

Kids Fooling With Trailer

La Grange police said they could not find two youths on bicycles at about 4:28 p.m. Sept. 15 seen apparently playing with wood or trying to take wood off a trailer parked on the 800 block of south Sixth Avenue where a new house is being built. One youth was on a green bike

Dugout Roof Slightly Damaged

The roof of a Little League, southwest corner dugout at Sedgwick Park, 48th Street and 10th Avenue, was found slightly damaged at about 5:10 p.m. Sept. 15.  Two youths on a building over the dugout denied causing the damage. Police took their names.
