Someone hit an electrical pole at Goodman and Gilbert avenues around 6:50 a.m.

Nanny Accused of Stealing 

A resident in the 800 block of South 12th Avenue reported her nanny stole miscellaneous items from her home. The nanny agreed to return a scrapbook that was made while she worked for the family, police said.

A man in the 500 block of East Avenue reported someone stole his wallet and keys around 5:45 p.m.

Suspicious Activity

A woman in the 1100 block of West Hillgrove Avenue reported her son saw two people walking in the backyard of their duplex around 12:20 a.m.

Friday, January 3

Car Side-Swipes Pace Bus

Someone side-swiped a Pace bus at the intersection of La Grange Road and Cossitt avenue around 8 a.m. No one was injured. Police said the car that hit the bus was a black SUV that was missing a passenger side mirror.

Cab Driver Reports Theft 

A cab driver reported theft after a woman he drove to the hospital never returned to pay her fare around 8 a.m. The woman paid the cab driver and was released without charges.

Christmas Decorations Vandalized 

A man in the 200 block of South Brainard Avenue reported someone vandalized some of his Christmas decorations around 2 p.m. He told police one of the animal decorations was missing a head.

Man Reported for Offering to Shovel Snow

Someone in the 0-100 block of Bassford Avenue reported suspicious activity after a man asked to shovel their snow around 4:45 p.m. The man was sent on his way.

Baby Jesus Stolen From Nativity Scene 

A woman in the 0-100 block of South Stone Avenue reported someone stole her baby Jesus from her nativity scene. The total estimated loss is $25, police said.

Woman Smells Marijuana

A woman reported she smelled marijuana in her apartment building in the 0-100 block of South Waiola Avenue around 3 a.m.

Gang Graffiti Found in Parking Garage

Police found gang graffiti in several locations in a parking garage in the 0-100 block of South 6th Avenue around 8:40 a.m.

Wild Dog Reported

A man in the 200 block of South Kensington Avenue reported a wild dog, or possibly coyote, that had been hanging out under his porch around 8 a.m.

A woman in the 0-100 block of South 7th Avenue reported someone cut her Christmas lights around 1:40 p.m.

Kids Throwing Snowballs Hit Cop Car

Four kids were returned to their parents after one of them threw a snowball at a squad car in the 100 block of South Ashland Avenue around 7:20 p.m.

Chair Goes Missing

Someone stole a chair from a Toms Price delivery van near the intersection of 47th Street and Catherine Avenue around 1:50 p.m. The delivery driver told police he accidentally left the door of the truck open and was unsure whether the chair fell or was stolen, police said.
