Apartment on Maple Avenue Suffers Smoke Damage from Thursday Blaze
The La Grange Fire Department extinguished a fire in an apartment on the 700 block of Maple Avenue on Thursday Afternoon.
The responded to an apartment fire at about 2 p.m. July 19 on Maple Avenue in La Grange.
Crews quickly responded to the fire, located in an apartment in a 6-unit, multifamily building on the 700 block of Maple Avenue. Prior to the arrival of the fire department, another resident of La Grange alerted the resident in the apartment with the blaze and escorted them from the building. One resident was treated at the scene and then transported to for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews entered the building and extinguished the fire and ventilated the building. The fire was determined to be the result of a cooking accident and caused heavy smoke damage to the unit. Other units in the building were unaffected and residents were allowed back inside.
