3 Teens Wanted in Attempted Armed Robbery of Individual in La Grange

La Grange law enforcement releases safety tips on how to act in a similar situation.

La Grange police are investigating an attempted armed robbery by three teens of someone in the 100 block of east Cossitt Avenue at about 7:38 p.m. Jan. 15.

Three African-American teens, about 18 years old, approached the victim and announced a robbery, police said. One displayed a silver revolver, police reports indicate. La Grange police are not releasing any more information, including whether the victim was a man or woman. The victim was brought home to Brookfield, according to the police report.

The three were of small build, the report stated. The first had his hair in dreadlocks, wore a black sweatshirt and showed the gun. The second was about 5-foot-6 and wore a dark colored jacket over a red shirt. The third was about 5-foot-10, the report stated. They last were seen on foot going east on Cossitt Avenue.

La Grange police are asking anyone with information about this robbery attempt to call its investigative division at (708) 579-2333 or the tip line at (708) 579-0688.

  • Do not resist. Your life is more valuable than replaceable possessions.
  • Don’t make any sudden, unexpected moves. A nervous criminal may think you are reaching for a concealed weapon.
  • If the suspect claims he has a weapon, never try to force his bluff.
  • Never try to be a hero and apprehend the criminal yourself. Get a good look at the offender/vehicle for an accurate description.
  • Notify police as soon as possible.
