2 New Officers Join La Grange Police Department

Two new officers to begin training in La Grange Monday, Oct. 7.

The La Grange Police Department has added two new officers to the force, the Doings La Grange reported Tuesday.

The new officers, Adam Coleman and Sabrina Irizarry, were sworn in at the Sept. 23 Village Board meeting. They will replace two retiring officers, according to a village staff memo.

Coleman, of Elmwood Park, is a 2006 graduate of St. Patrick High School. He attended Western Illinois University and graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and justice administration.

He was an intern at the La Grange Police Department in the summer of 2010, and since April 2012, he has been a member of the department's auxiliary unit.

Irizarry, of Burbank, is a 2007 graduate of Reavis High School. She attended Moraine Valley Community College until transferirng to Loyola University of Chicago, where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science. She worked for FedEx Office for seven years through school, and was an intern at the Burbank Police Department. She is now a second-year graduate at DePaul University, where she is pursuing a masters degree in public management.

A third police officer position remains vacant due to the village's cost containment plan.

Coleman and Irizarry begin training at the La Grange Police Department on Monday, Oct. 7.
