2 Charged with Criminal Trespass to Barnsdale School

More than three dozen laptops were stolen during the incident, which La Grange Park police said was previously unreported.

Two people were arrested Monday and charged with trespassing stemming from the July theft of 38 laptop computers from Barnsdale School in La Grange Park, police said.

Police were looking into a bicycle theft from the 1000 block of Barnsdale when the investigation led them to Joseph Morici, 25, of the 3800 block of Harrison in Brookfield, Chief Daniel McCollum said in a statement.

Officers recovered a stolen bike, and in the process learned that Morici and Ashley Schoenle, 18, of the 5600 block of South Meade in Chicago, entered the school on July 8 through an unlocked window, the report said. Two juveniles, age 16 and 17, were with them during the incident, which had previously gone unreported.

About half of the stolen computers, which were taken from a school storage unit, have been recovered, McCollum said.

School officials declined to press felony burglary charges against Morici and Schoenle.

They were charged with criminal trespass to state supported property, a Class A misdemeanor that carries a fine up to $2,500 and as much as one year in prison.

The juveniles were released to their parents.

Morici and Schoenle were released on bond and given a Sept. 11 court date in Maywood.
